Game Design and Development (COMP3218)
This is a group project coursework for COMP3218 Game Design and Development module. The team consisted of 2 people - myself and George Alexiou, a fellow student.
The game itself is a minimalistic top-down 2D puzzle game where the aim is to fin the exit before the time runs out. This game does not obviously display the time, instead it tried to convey the sense of urgency through the dimming of the main light emitting from the player.
Another visual clue is the shift of color depending on the distance from the key or the exit. Such element guides the user towards the exit if used correctly.
The main tools used for this project were Unity game engine and C#. All assets were hand crafted, however, some code elements were inspired by Brackeys tutorials on YouTube.
The distribution of work on this project was equal. I took care of the level design, initial movement and light behaviors, as well as the navigation UI and the sound management system. George, reworked the input system, implemented the key and collectable mechanic, and created tutorial guides for the player.
To handle project management, we used Notion. We kept an up-to-date list of tasks and followed a waterfall development method throughout the project.
